Aaliyah Haughton made headlines in 1994, when she dropped her debut album Age Ain't nothing but an amount. The album, made available at just 15 years old, went Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced this collaboration, and helped to bring her into the spotlight. In the year 1996, Jermaine Durpri along with Timbaland worked together to create the second album of hers, One In A Million. The album included If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the number one. Aaliyah gained international recognition as a R&B artist following their release of the second album, One In A Million. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000) which was an action-packed romantic film. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her at the awards ceremony and kindly offered her the part. She was in 2002 when she was involved in the Anne Rice-produced thriller Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels saw her play Zee, after appearing on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions that same year. The actress is the first Indian American to be born in Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. It is an acronym for Mankad, her married surname. Aarti has both Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn as her professional names. Though she initially had small TV and movie parts, her acting career began becoming more popular in the turn of the century. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. In addition, she has appeared in advertisements for major brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. The actress lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. She continues to pursue her acting career.
